I am in several crochet groups on Facebook. I often see people posting questions regarding how to add a border to a C2C blanket. I thought I'd give a quick tutorial on how I add my borders. Here is an example of a baby blanket I finished using the method below. Before you begin, you will need to choose which color(s) you will use for your border. In this example, I made the square white, and I would normally have done the first round of the border in white (or whatever the main color is) as well, but I used green for contrast. First round of border: Second round of border: Once you complete the second step, you can finish with whatever edging you'd like. There are many options. I prefer to work with a scalloped edge. In the pink and gray striped blanket at the top, I followed the "Large Shell Edging Instructions" from this website: http://www.how-to-crochet-instructions.com/crochet-shell-edging.html. When I got to the corner, I worked 10 tr to turn the corner and continued working around. There are countless other edgings you can add, just do a simple search for crochet edgings and go where your imagine takes you. :)

That's exactly how I did the border on a baby blanket(c2c) For final round I tried a picot stitch, but frogged it. Didn't look good on a blanket for a boy. Thanks for posting this.

Did you do two rounds of the first round.. I'm looking at your picture i see a white "round one" but it looks like you did another round in the green before you did the large shells?

Nope. I just did one green and one pink. But you could do as many rounds as you like :)

Hello. I might be similarly confused as another commenter. I want to do the large shell edge like your white and green C2C blanket. Do I complete BOTH the sc border round and the dc border round BEFORE starting the shell round? Thanks. Your blanket looks great.

I like the look of a round of dc before working the shells. I think it looks more finished as well as makes the border look wider. But you can adapt this in any way you want.

I love your c2c! I haven't completed mine after a year, but I think I'm ready now. See it was for my mom who passed before I could finish it. So it's been difficult to pick it back up. I love this border and I love the shells also. I wanted to put a ruffle border around it. Do you have a pattern link for one? I also don't know when to decrease for a baby blanket. Your help would be very appreciated! Blessings from SC! 💕💕

To make a c2c blanket, you can find many tutorials online. I highly suggest watching the Crochet Crowd video on YouTube to see how to work a c2c blanket.

I'm confused about the corner part, is the sc, ch 3, sc in the same spot of corner or a sc in a space right before corner, ch 3, then sc in soace right after corner?

I love the border pattern used on your project. I'm looking for help in a completely different area. My son, a doctor, had asked me to crochet the internal organs, for display in his office. Have looked everywhere I everywhere think of, no luck. Does anyone possibly have patterns, or somewhere/someone I can aquire them from. Thanks in advance for any help. An email with any help you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Agree, this C2C border is great. In response to your question about internal organs, you might try an Etsy shop called the Optimistic Cynic.

For the large shell border on the pink and green blanket did you first crochet a row of sc? Then add the shells? I love the look and I am ready to do the border. Thanks!

I absolutely love doin c2c blankets and coverlet. My latest has been made with yarn scraps or partial skeins from thrift stores and garage sales. I call it my cover of many colors, like the coat of many colors made with love. I will be donating to nursing homes and shelters each time I get one finished..

Thank you! I was looking for a border pattern for my C2C afghan. Had done two sides of a different border (from youtube) and was not happy with it. Found this and started over. This results in a neater edge, by crocheting into the spaces between blocks, as opposed to trying to do single crochets into the actual stitches. Faster too!

Its American terminology. You can tell by the use of 'sc'.

I did the body and border all in one color. I was running low on yarn so instead of (dc in sc, 2dc in ch2 space) for the 2nd round of the border, I did (slip stitch in sc, 2hdc in ch2 space), and that was the final round of the border. It made a nice firm edge with a slight scallop but not too frilly.

I look at the picture and looks like you did your starting row.Round of sc on that. Then a double crochet round. And last a shell round.I have a 36 block by 50 block c2c.I did exactly how the instructions said. When it cam to doing the large shells coming to the corner my ten double crochets to go in the corner hole didn't line up.So I tried the small shell border same thing. Is my blocks wrong or should this border work on any size blanket?I've ripped out the border several times but really want this one on my baby blanket.confused. thank you.

I’m sorry you’re having trouble. When I am off by one, I often just fudge it. If you’re skipping three stitches, you may have to skip two instead for one shell group. Or skip four, but if you skip four, I would make the first stitch in your shell a tr, then continue the rest of the shell in dc.
